Whatever Hat She's Wearing, This Professional Is Leading the Way

It doesn’t take much to set Katy Prather in motion. At the drop of a hat, you can get her involved in a meaningful civic project, a fun family activity or even a meeting of Georgetown’s irreverent Red Hat Society—of which she’s a charter member. And regardless of which hat she’s wearing, chances are she’ll be leading the way.

Ask Katy about her beloved hometown and it is evident that this vivacious businesswoman takes great pride in her community. Throughout the past decade, Katy has served as president of the Georgetown/Scott County Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and hospital board. She also makes time to work with the Scott County Woman’s Club, raising funds for the community and helping with the Rotary’s Soapbox Derby. Her contributions to the community as well as her success in business led to her peers honoring her as 1998 Businesswoman of the Year.

Wearing Many Hats

Katy’s leadership skills were evident to members of the International Rotary Club, who asked her to be the first woman president of the Georgetown chapter. Those same skills were apparent to the congregation of St. John Church, where Katy worships with her family, and where she was co-chair of a capital fund-raising campaign. As a devoted mom, she shared her life and career philosophy with her children: think big—if you can dream it, you can accomplish it. For her recent accomplishments and civic involvement, the Georgetown/Scott County Chamber of Commerce honored Katy as a 2002 Citizen of the Year.

Even when she’s not involved with professional responsibilities, civic projects or family outings, Katy is known for accomplishing big things. Although she no longer plays much tennis, she’s captured many trophies in singles and doubles play. When she’s not competing or handling her clients’ investments, this goal-oriented professional enjoys outings to the beach with her husband, Larry, and their three children. Having too many cooks in the kitchen is never a problem when the clan convenes to prepare a great meal together.

Hanging Your Hat

Katy’s leadership skills provide a clear advantage for her real estate clients. Understanding that home is much more than a place to hang your hat, this native and long-time resident of Georgetown is always ready to take time to listen to what buyers and sellers really need and expect in a transaction or a new residence. With that information, she formulates a strategic plan to meet their goals and goes out of her way to smooth the process by taking care of all the details.

Full service is the name of the game for this focused professional, who frequently goes far beyond the call of duty to connect clients with dentists, hairdressers, babysitters and even potential employers! “I don’t just sell a house,” she explains. “I make a friend, and I’m there to provide many of the things friends offer one another.” With two decades of experience in the real estate field and keen knowledge of the community gleaned from a lifetime of residency and extensive civic involvement, Katy’s working for you, whatever your real estate needs. When you’re serious about a move in the Georgetown area, call one of the area’s most approachable, knowledgeable professionals and allow her to tip her hat for your success.
